Replace mortise latch with mortise lock...?

How can I replace my bedroom mortise latch with a mortise lock? Is it possible to replace it without a lock hole in the door frame? If so, how would I make a keyhole?

It might seem simple but I'm not experienced with changing locks, especially making new holes for it to fit and lock properly.

Step to step guide would be appreciated.

Also, please suggest the correct tools needed to create holes. If I need a new mortise lock set, please indicate the website.

Thanks in advance.
Replace mortise latch with mortise lock...?
go to scewfix site and look at rack bolts and key sets, they are simple star key operated deadlocks.sounds like u want some privay in your room ,these are ideal ,they come with simple fitting instruction and all you will need is a drill ,pencil, and some wood bits..P.S when you drill the hole for the key {i.e. on the inside of your door} dont drill all the way through the door as then anyone else could open the door from the outside....trust me just buy one you will see how easy this little lock is ..price bout 拢6...regards andy..apflaminates.com
