I bought a salvaged Toyota Camry and the company gave me a key for it. The key did not work in the door lock.
My dad lost the key and we went to Toyota and got another one. That one doesn't work at all.

Probably more than you gave for the car. Its a chip key system, you won't be doing it yourself.
