im sorry but i have these horrible tenants. they have moved out of the property, leaving behind unnecessary rubbish only, but still hold the keys. they have refused to pay the rent for a month (rent is paid monthly) and demand one month%26#039;s refund for %26#039;dirty%26#039; kitchen and bathroom that is perfectly clean and refurbished as well, %26#039;unuseable%26#039; washing machine that works and washes fine and %26#039;high fire safety hazard%26#039; which has long been solved now.

Changing locks on a Ford Transit?
I%26#039;ve just bought a MK5 Ford Transitand the keys are so worn down that some of the locks won%26#039;t open (I have to get in through the passenger door!). I%26#039;ve bought a full set of locks (inc ignition and fuel cap) but have no idea how to change them without damaging the internal bodywork of the van.

Although some doors have a larger section to unscrew, but instructions are enclosed, usually between 拢3 - 拢10 each lock. make sure if they are outside doors you get 5 lever ones, most insurance companys will only insure you if the locks are 5 lever. this just means that there are 5 seperate sections inside the lock that the key has to turn, as apposed to 3 lever. Its as simple as removing the door card, and taking the back of the barrel fixings off and fitting the new one in. The only damage your likely to do is to the tacky fittings pulling off the door card, as the pop plastic fittings are normally brittle and you%26#039;ll be lucky if over half come off without breaking. but these are pence to replace, so no big deal.

You also want to make sure that the striker plate, the metal thingy attached to your door jam, has VERY long skrews, so that the screws actually go right through the door frame and into something substancial. This will make it harder for the bad guy to break in. You will probably have to get the screws at your hardware store. Just take the originals with you and ask someone to find you ones that are the same width, but about 2%26quot; long.
If you don%26#039;t really know what you%26#039;re doing, when it comes to installing the lock. Ask your lock smith to show you how to do it while you%26#039;re in the store. Take notes if that%26#039;s what it takes.

You also want to make sure that the striker plate, the metal thingy attached to your door jam, has VERY long skrews, so that the screws actually go right through the door frame and into something substancial. Just take the originals with you and ask someone to find you ones that are the same width, but about 2%26quot; long.

Changing locks on my car? is this possible? expensive?
Made a stupid decision letting someone take my car keys out of my sight for what ended up being almost an hour. The key has been copied which I know will not work to start the engine..but it will open the door. I have a convertable and had disabled entry to the trunk of my car from the dash, making the trunk accessable only with my little keyless remote thing (whatever you call that thing) Anyway, the local access has been reset and enabled... this means whoever has a copy of my car key (there is no telling how many people) has access to my trunk. How do you change the locks on a house?
I look at the locks, and I don%26#039;t see any screws or anything else that would allow me to remove the existing locks.|||Generally there are snap on covers over the screws on a dead bolt. But the door knobs/handles usually have the screws that hold the two halves together in plain site. Once you get the cover off it will require nothing more then the right size screw driver as long as the new locks are standard size.|||you need to but you a hole new kit and you will see the screws and thing on each side of the new door knob.some are covered|||The size of the hole through the door is the best determination of which lock to buy. The very best thing would be to buy the same lock. Check the brand and go to your local builders hardware company. Forget places like the big box stores. They can also tell you how to take off the old ones.|||.With dynamite|||look closely at the knob and see if there isn%26#039;t a place where you can insert a screwdriver and release the doorknob.

How much is to much when changing locks on a home? I have 3 doors with 2 locks each on them.?
I dont want to spend a fortune. And should you key them all the same?

I have installed both types of locks and I have decided that purely from an ease of installation stand point I prefer Schlage. The internals of the locks make for a much simpler process. If you want to get all of your locks keyed the same, which makes for a much lighter key ring, there are two options that you can take. First, you can sort through all the locks of the same style at a store and pick out the locks with matching keys, They only produce limited numbers of each pin layout, so you might need to go back a few times to find enough locks of the same number. The other option is to install random keyed locks and then convert them to the same key. To do this you either need to call a bonded Locksmith, or if you live in a locality that allows it you can buy a rekeying set for only a few dollars and rekey the lock your self, It isn%26#039;t that difficult and is kind of fun if you enjoy that kind of thing. And, remember, if you install the locks yourself, the doorknob goes in the hole that is about 1 meter off the ground and the deadbolt goes in the hole above that.

In order to change the lock image you would need to select a different theme. Wife left me/Change locks(PA)?
She took a bunch of things and is pretty much storing stuff here until she finds a place down the road(she moved in with her sister). Should I change my locks??
I live in a really bad area of a city. I live in an apartment building and i left my keys in the door and they are gone now. My car is parked in the apartment parking lot but it is not gone yet. What would happen if my car was stolen, would I be covered even though the burglar has the keys? How much is it to change locks anyway. Could I just change the door locks and leave the ignition. Unscrew the two screws on the inside part of the door. Remove both handles pulling them away from each other.
Unscrew the two screws on the edge of the door where the lock is itself.
Pull it out.
Put the new one in the same direction. This is the most important part. You want the slanted side to be facing the door jam, otherwise it will not shut without turning the handle.
Once you have it back into place, tighten it up with the screw provided.
Now put your new door knobs on and tighten them up.
Guess what? You are done. You have officially just completed a simple home maintenance job. Congratulations.
Seriously though, this is a very simple job and can be completed in a matter of minutes.
One suggestion: If you are replacing both the front and back door locks, get them keyed alike. This is much simpler to only have one key.|||I recommend changing houses...much easier.|||You either hire someone to do it, or DIY and go to a hardware store and buy a new door knob or dead bolt and install it yourself. its pretty easy. Don%26#039;t forget to get spare keys made. We bought the deadbolt and door knob combo so same key for both locks.|||It is easy in fact very easy buy the lock first and if you are in North America you will need a Phillips screwdriver (the star one) just remove the old lock and put the new one back in the same way.

You will be lucky to get all these things changed and reprogrammed for under $500.|||Just put a steering wheel lock on it.|||it should take 1 hour labor about $75 per hour in california plus parts, about $112.00 est. How do i remove the door panel to change locks?
I am trying to remove the drivers side door panel without damaging it in order to replace or repair the door lock as it%26#039;s stopped working on me.
It seems to be the window winder that is causing the problem as this car has manual not elecrtic windows.

Other than that there are just a couple of screws and a bunch of clips.|||If you do not have the tool to remove the clip, wrap a rag between window crank and door panel. Pull it out real quick and the clip should come flying out. Be careful not to lose the clip. i lost the keys to my house.
my parents have warned me about this before that if i can%26#039;t find them i would have to pay to change five locks.

If you do it yourself, it really depends on what kind of lock you get, can go from $15 per lock to whatever your budget is. If you call a locksmith I cant tell because different people charge differently.|||Locks aren%26#039;t too cheap, I don%26#039;t think. Especially five of them. Go to homedepot.com or walmart.com and see. I don%26#039;t blame them, though...I wouldn%26#039;t want my house keys wandering out there somewhere. Even there I%26#039;m sure there%26#039;s no address on the keychains, it would still be an unsettling feeling.

I know going to a lock smith is pricey so I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the ingition and door locks for a 1986 Pontiac Trans Am. With commercial property, the only criminal charges that might come to mind are criminal damage. That is why having a witness present when it is done is such a good idea.
On the civil front, there is a prospect of a claim by an occupier for what the lawyers call %26quot;derogation from grant%26quot;. That is not, however, possible when a landlord acts properly, as mentioned above.|||The owner, or person that has beneficial interest in the property. But legal advice is a must on this issue.
