Changing the locks?

I do not want to be with my boyfriend anymore. We've been together for 7 years, and have a 4 year old son. He is really abusive to me in everyway, and not a good role model for our son, due to that. I am sick of fighting with him, and on top of this have 2 serious heart problems, and I feel like im going 2 have a heart attack when we start fighting. He works and goes to the gym for a total of about 15 hours everyday, and he is never home! I am going to have the locks changed on my house today, because he just does NOT get the clue that I don't want him around me anymore! Would I just call a locksmith for this? i own the house, this house is only in MY name.... Does anyone know how much it costs, and they will give u the keys right then, right?
Changing the locks?
YOU GO GIRL!!! Free yourself from his madness! Jesus loves you and it is too soon for you to be checkin out of here! Your son needs you! So good for you! You are a very strong woman to be able to walk away from this unhealthy relationship! You can go to HOME DEPOT or LOWES or any hardware store and get you some brand new locks and keys! You can do it yourself (very easy) they come in a pack (complete door knob set w/key) Buy one for each door to your home and that will fix his trifilin behind! You don't have to hire a locksmith. To change the knobs takes about 5 minutes. All you need is a screwdriver. Good Luck! Hope everything works out for you!
Changing the locks?
IDK
So you have obviously tried kicking him out?

I think you shouldnt be home alone when he comes home to find the locks changed it could get nasty.

Be careful
I think you can get the barrells changed without the whole lock and it may be cheaper. You get the keys then and there, but will he smash his way in when he comes around?
Yes, but its something that you can do yourself. It would be alot cheaper. Failing that, ask a family member, but if you can't find anyone, call a locksmith and ask them how much it would cost. Explain to them your concerns.
get a locksmith QUICK, and dump his stuff out in the street for him to collect...
HOney I hate to break it to you, but even if the house is on your name, you still have to have him evicted with a court order. He is living there too. If you want him out of your house, ask him to leave. If he doesn't, go stay at a friend or family's house and then go get an eviction ASAP.
No clues about that!
Yup it's as easy as calling up a locksmith and setting up an appointment. Yeah, they'll give you the new keys right there. He might just think his key stopped working so you have to send an overt message. Put his personal effects on the doorstep with a note saying that he's not welcome there anymore. This also sounds a bit over the top but you have to call the sherriff and let them know what you are doing so that you don't get into any trouble WHEN (not if) you have to call them out there. This will result in a no contact order and will also cost you a small fee for filing.
U can call the locksmith quickly and he will fix it for u. If its an external lock, its damn easy to just change the lock. But plz ensure that u r not alone when this happens as he could harm the kid n u....so get someone to be with u ...
First of all, you CAN change the locks at your home. It is your property and you can change the locks at any time and for any reason - WITHOUT giving him the keys. The costs are typically nominal and vary depending on where you live. You can easily change the locks yourself by going to a store like Lowes, Home Depot, Menards or another hardware store. Have you actually asked him to leave? If you have asked him to leave and he refuses to do so, you should also get an order of protection against him. Getting an order of protection will require him to leave and allow you to have him arrested if he violates the order. Doing this will allow you to keep him away from both you and your son.

Please don't wait to do this. A child that sees violence everyday will end up thinking that violence is normal. Children should be protected in every way and staying in a situation like this isn't doing the best you can do for your child. Filing an order of protection is easy to do. You will be given a temporary order until you go to court. Do it today!
