How long do i have to wait to have my locks changed?
RING YOUR LANDLORD AND ASK!
How long do i have to wait to have my locks changed?
If you are worried why wait. Go to home depot, if you have one, buy a lock set that will fit your door and replace them. Give a key to landlord for his needs. You have the right to be and feel safe.
Because of your personal problems, the landlord is not responsible to change your locks, you are. But once changed you must give the LL a copy of the key. If you want the landlord to change the locks for you, he can and will charge you for the lock and his time. Your best bet is to call a locksmith and just have the lock rekeyed and then give the LL his copy.

Dont forget to let the LL know that your ex moved out. If his name is on the lease he is still responsible for damages, rent, etc. See if you can get a new lease just in your name.

You didnt explain that he moved into the same complex with the same landlord. Although that doesnt make a difference. You are still there in the apartment and are one of the original tenants. Because your marital status changed, that doesnt make the LL responsible to change the locks. You said that you are moving out in 2 months. Thats when He will change the locks, unless you do it in the meantime. The landlord is still not responsible for your personal problems. That is unless there is some rule in your state saying that every landlord is responsible for their tenants personal problems or personal circumstances.

Now I am sorry if I sound harsh and I really dont know the laws of your state. But if common sense prevails, you will see that this is not the LL's problem.
