Split after living together - gf changed locks how to get property?

my son was living with his girlfriend. the place was hers, as was most of the furniture. they broke up, she changed the locks and has returned only a fraction of his belongings. golf clubs, clothes, files are still in the locked condo. he is worried about making a large scene, but he does want his stuff back. what legal recourse does he have? thanks - this is michigan|||The easiest course of action is to see if the police will accompany him to the condo to pick up his things. If that fails see a lawyer.|||she does not have a choice but to give up the items. He him get the rest of his stuff by calling the sheirff...if he still cant get it consult and attorney|||Maybe he should resolve the problem himself and not get his daddy involved?|||It is for him to call policeman to assisting for help. A policeman can asking the woman about many belongings inside. If she can say no to the policeman the son will needing to have judge order papers for recovery.|||call the police|||Tell him to sue her in small claims court. 1st he should call police to make the claim and have them take a written statement. This will help him in court. It will also be very helpful to have witness statements %26amp; notarized letters of any one (3rd party best) who can validate his claim. Advise him to make a list and document the value of all property not returned. If he can get her to admit to this via text, email or someone else hear her verbally admit to withholding his property will be good. Small claims is based on a preponderance of evidence and who is most believable.|||Your son needs to tell her that he has the right to claim everything that%26#039;s rightfully his. If she says no, he should go to the police and a lawyer and sue her!|||Maybe she threw him out because he is a big Momma%26#039;s boy.

For future reference : stay out of your son%26#039;s relationships!
