Is it possible to change the locks on my car?

For the door and the engine. If so how expensive and how long would it take?|||It can be done but it is quite a job.

Best left to a shop that is capable. The interior door panels have to be removed to get at the inside fastener of the door lock. Those panels are easily damaged and are expensive to replace. You might be able to get by just changing the tumblers in the door locks if you always lock the doors. That way if someone finds the missing keys they can%26#039;t open the doors.

Since your dad has one good key the ignition lock can be removed and refitted to a new key. You don%26#039;t actually have to replace the locks, just change the tumblers in them to fit a new and different key.|||Tumblers are the internal parts of the locks and can be changed without buying all new locks. Call some locksmiths for quotes....might run a few hundred for labor to do all the locks....you could also just add an alarm system.|||Yeah its possible and for the ignition lock its possible too but it will probably cost you a bit. the price will depend on your car/year/model as for how long it would take, if you take it to a shop they shouldnt take more than a couple of hours it just requires pulling out the door panels and the ignition cover and stuff|||Yes, it is possible but you should have enough pocket power.|||you can change the locks on your doors, the price depends on the year and model, but on the engine engines dont have locks. do you mean the ignition switch on the stering column? can you post again? with further info? for the door locks and ignition it costs about 102.00 dollars autozone.com
