How do you change a lock that doesn't have any screws?

I got a door handle, with a lock from my girlfriend and there were no instructions because her family had already used it but all of the peices were still there. How do I change it? There is no way to put screws in the side you lock. I can put it in but it will just fall off...

Go to the store and buy a new lock cause if you put it in and it jams up or doesn't work you will have a real time to get it out and trying to search for parts is just a big waste of time.



When installing the new lock set check out what the last lock set looked like before you start putting the door set together, cause I put the new door knob in backwards and couldn't get the door to open, and test it a few times inside and make sure someone is inside before you go locking yourself out. If it is a deadbolt don't tighten the screws too tight or the lock will not unlock.

Assuming you are speaking of a keyed entry door knob 鈥?you will need to purchase the same brand lockset and have it re-pinned to your key. You could do it yourself but it takes a bit of tumble knowledge, a few tools and pins.

You could take it to a locksmith, but the cost will probably be less if you just have some duplicates made of the new lockset and hand them out.

odds are its your drive strike. the piece that comes out of side of door. your lock has only 4 screws total. take them out.... 2 on side of knob and 2 on the striker, and put a new one on. they come with 2 keys and almost any place you buy it will be able to cut extra keys for you

22nd of April 2009, on a Wednesday, my grandmother died (God rest her soul) in a fire that happened in our family home. My stepfather has been held in custody since then, and my mother since has left to a different country where she has more support, because this is obviously too much for her to handle considering she has 3 children that are all under 5 years of age and her grief of her mothers death. Now that I am all alone I came up with an idea for me to live, this would be to rent the rooms of the house once it has been fixed to students and for them to pay me, this would then be my income, that way I would be able to give my mother the rent money for her to live on. But, my mother doesn't want me near the UK, she doesn't trust me at all and I refuse to live anywhere else apart from England. Me and my mothers relationship wasn't the best one, fights everyday etc and the whole thing about her not trusting me because I am a teenager and all that bullshit. I am now on holiday visiting my father. My mother recently told me that she had signed a contract to rent the house to a family, this puzzled me because 50% of the house was put under my name from my father in the 1990's, so i don't know how she can get away with it without my signature or permission. So i was thinking that i would cut my holiday short and go back to England on the 14th this month, and change the locks of the house.. I was wandering if i would be able to do that without interruption from the law also putting into consideration that she still somehow might of rented the house. No, it is not legal. You are a minor. You said you were going to give your mom the rent money anyway. You are not a legal adult so that is how she can %26quot;get away with it%26quot;. Sucks.
If half the house is in your name, you can't change the locks, but she also can't rent the house out without informing you.

Tell her that you're going to require 50% of whatever that family pays in rent, then use that to live on.
Tell your mother you own half the house, if she refuses to listen, bring it to court, it sounds cruel and mean, but it's pretty much the only choice. The courts will decide what to do. She was negligent in not informing you about the rent, so she could be fined or she could lose the 50% she owns or some other thing like that. The rentee's would not be able to rent the house, but you might not be able to change the locks before the court-date. This is the best thing I can think of so.. Best of luck to ya.
If your a minor u dont own the house. It is held in trust for you. Meaning u have no rights to it yet. Until your of age which is determined by the trust.

It also means she can not sell it.

She is also an adult and has more power than you.

From what I have have researched, the only way to do that is to use the TK File Explorer and go into the locked folder and delete the pictures you do not want. You must be VERY careful though, because you can %26quot;brick%26quot; your phone if you delete the wrong files. Be sure to copy and paste everything as a back-up...just in case. Good Luck!

I have always lived in houses with wooden external doors and I know how to change a lock barrel in one of those, but now I am buying a house that has all uPVC external doors. Is the process to change the lock barrel just the same?

There should be a screw on the lock above or below the bolt/latch undo the screw and remove, then the barrel should slide out from the handle, if its stuck try putting the key in and turning it whilst pulling the barrel out

Fit the new barrel in reverse order

As previous answer but their is a locking lever on the barrel of some euro locks insert key and turn this will disengage the locking lever allowing the barrel to slide out it is not a full turn most are around a quarter turn and may take a bit of fiddling about to get the correct position
